Have you ever wondered how and when BMETS started? Let me start by saying I wasn’t here when it started. I think there are many current BMETS members who may not have even been born yet. November 3, 1983 was the first meeting of the organizing board for BMETS. This group of individuals set the building blocks for what today is still going strong as BMETS. Victor Dobbs, Ethan Hertz, Darlah Jasper, James Kruelle, Stephen Mack, Jim Mappus, John McKinnon, Roy Shipley, Stephen Thompson and Frank Weinberg came together for the purpose of creating a group of Biomedical Engineers and Technicians. Their goal was to have this group come together to share their knowledge of what was going on at their place of work to help improve the healthcare, that we as HTM personnel, strive to achieve everyday. They set up a group that would last for years to come and last for many more. If you know any of these individuals, please give them a “Thank You” for starting this group that still is going strong today. Roy still attends meetings to this day. Thank you Roy for helping to bring this group together and for your continued support of BMETS.
